ED registers fresh ECIR in the case
After a brief lull, Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday once again swung into action to launch massive search and seizure operations at over 15 locations in Raipur, Bilaspur and Korba districts of Chhattisgarh, as it commenced afresh investigations into another case of money laundering, thereby once again triggering a panic button in State’s polity and administration.
The searches enveloped senior politicians of ruling Congress Government, senior bureaucrats and some top government contractors.
The swoops came into play after the federal agency registered a fresh Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR)
under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The ongoing ops has enveloped over 12 individuals including Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee Treasurer Ramgopal Agrawal, IAS officers Ranu Sahu, Prabhakar Pandey, Commissioner Korba Municipal Corporation (KMC), Ramdas Agrawal, Sanjay Shinde, Anoop Gupta (Chartered Accountant), Ashok Agrawal, Mukesh Agrawal, Neemchand Agrawal, Risabh Soni and T R Singh. Most importantly, the fresh search operations were discreetly planned and meticulously executed by the top ED officials and most of the officials taking part in the swoop have been requisitioned from outside Chhattisgarh.
Sources further revealed that the searches underway has covered the residence and business premises of Ramgopal Agrawal, Ram Das Agrawal in Zora and Anupam Nagar of Raipur; official residences of IAS officers Ranu Sahu and Prabhakar Pandey in Devendra Nagar area Raipur and Korba; residence of Sanjay Shinde situated on High Court Road at Rama Valley in Bilaspur, office of Sunil Agrawal at Ambe Plaza in Bilaspur; office premises of Rapur-based CA Anoop Gupta, who is Auditor of KMC; New Balaji Steel plant in Rapur, office and residences of Ashok Agrawal, Mukesh Agrawal and Neemchand Agrawal in Ambikapur, plush residential flat of Risabh Soni at Himalayan Heights in Raipur and one T R Singh’s residence at Kamal Vihar in Raipur.
