Sarva Adivasi Samaj across the Bastar division staged a massive protest against appalling incident in Manipur where two women were paraded naked and gang-raped in front of a camera. The entire tribal community observed a day-long ‘bandh’, expressing their outrage and terming it an insult to entire female fraternity. The heinous incident in Manipur has sparked widespread criticism and condemnation, with protests erupting across the nation. Now, the echoes of these atrocities against tribal women in Manipur have been heard in Chhattisgarh, prompting the Sarva Adivasi Samaj to call for a bandh in the Bastar division on Monday.
 
The office-bearers of Sarva Adivasi Samaj voiced their strong condemnation of the abominable act, expressing deep embarrassment at the incident in Manipur. The Bastar Chamber of Commerce also extended its support to the bandh, joining hands in protest against the heinous crime. The impact of the bandh was visibly profound in Bijapur district, where local traders united in solidarity by keeping their establishments closed from morning till 2 am. A similar scene unfolded in Bijapur, Bhopalpatnam, and Madded, with shops shuttered in response to the protest.
 
Traders in Sukma and Dantewada also stood united in their protest, choosing to keep their shops closed to draw attention to this horrific incident. However, in Kondagaon district, the effect of the bandh remained negligible, with businesses operating as usual. In Narayanpur district, local traders extended full s upport to the Sarva Adivasi Samaj bandh, standing in solidarity by keeping their establishments closed till 1 pm on Monday.
