Raipur,
In a major Thursday night development, Home Department of Chhattisgarh Government exercised a key reshuffle affecting posting of six senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers of Chhattisgarh cadre. The shuffle also saw fresh posting orders of three key police ranges namely Raipur, Bilaspur and Durg respectively, in addition to creation of one new post of IG Rajnandgaon, inclusive of Rajnandgaon, Kabirdham, Khairagarh-Chuikhadaan-Gandai and Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki districts. Moreover, the reshuffle also led to creation of a new post of DIG Raigarh, encompassing Raigarh, Sakti and Jashpur districts respectively.
An official order to this effect, which was issued from Home (Police) Department, Mantralaya, Mahanadi Bhawan, Nawa Raipur, Atal Nagar, has left many IPS officers in shock and awe, since it had an element of surprise with the creation of two new posts. As per the orders issued, 2001-batch IPS officer, Dr Anand Chhabra, has been posted as new Bilaspur Range IG Dr Chhabra will replace 2004-batch IPS officer Badri Narayan Meena, who has been transferred as the replacement to IG Durg Range. Similarly, the fresh posting order also saw a crucial change of guards as 2003-batch IPS officer Ratan Lal Dangi, has been given exclusive additional charge of Raipur Range IG with only Raipur district under his authoritative jurisdiction. Dangi, is presently serving as Director of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose State Police Academy in Chandrakhuri area of Raipur. Dangi’s fresh assignment and assuming of his will relieve 2004-batch IPS officer Ajay Yadav, from additional charge of Raipur Range IG.
Yadav, however, will continue to discharge his current responsibility as IG Intelligence. Likewise, 2004-batch IPS officer, Ankit Garg, who returned from Central Deputation to Chhattisgarh cadre and posted as IG Police HeadQuarters (PHQ), has been transferred as new Surguja Range IG. Most importantly, this reshuffle specifically to accommodate 2005-batch IPS officer Rahul Bhagat, who too recently returned to his parent Chhattisgarh cadre after serving a stint on Central Deputation. For a lucky-go Bhagat, he has been posted as IG of new Rajnandgaon Police Range. Prior to this, ever since Bhagat returned to Chhattisgarh, had been serving as IG Police HeadQuarters (PHQ). The creation of a new post of IG Rajnandgaon has been attributed as an administrative contingency. Apropos, 2007-batch IPS officer and In-charge Surguja Range IG Ram Gopal Garg, has been tasked with the newly-created responsibility of DIG Raigarh, which is too an administrative arrangement.
