Attempt of breaching the security of a sensitive defence establishment Gun Carriage Factory (GFC) by contractual workers is a matter of serious concern for competitive authorities. Thanks to the two alert security personnel who trapped the two contract workers while stealing gun metal and other stuffs at the factory exit. The incident took place on Saturday night, when the security personnel were checking vehicles of two contractual workers on exit point of Gun Carriage Factory gate number-1. Security personnel found sacks filled with gun metal and other stuffs while hiding under the bonnets of both the jeeps numbered MP-20TA-1907 and MP-20T-9987 driving by Michael John and Amish Dhimia. Taking prompt action, both the drivers were detained and two sacks filled with gun metal were seized by the security personnel.

Security officers are interrogating the two detained contractual drivers but senior officers are tight-lipped in commenting over the issue. Sources informed that the security personnel are interrogating the contractual workers to disclose more theft incidents and collecting several other information about spot of stealing the gun metal, theft of other commodities, defence material or information from the factory, involvement of other persons in thefts, utilisation of stolen materials etc. This was not the first time when the incident of stealing defence products from any ordnance factory came to light but several cases of theft at ordnance factories and other defence establishments reported in regular intervals.
