Chhuria Nagar Panchayat President voted out through no confidence

 

 

In a dramatic turn of events, after more than two months of resentment and internal strife, Chhuria Nagar Panchayat President Rajkumari Sinha got defeated in the vote of no confidence. The efforts of senior Congress leaders in the district to address the dissatisfaction of rebel councilors went in vain. During a session chaired by the presiding officer and Dogargaon SDM R S Nayak on Monday, ten out of eleven councillors voted in favour of the no-confidence motion against President Rajkumari Sinha. Only five councillors supported Sinha, rendering her unable to retain her position against the strong opposition.

 

The ramifications of this dissatisfaction are expected to be felt in the upcoming assembly elections. Furthermore, stepping down from the position will likely impact the political influence of Rajkumari Sinha’s brother-in-law Tarun Sinha, as well as her husband Manoj Sinha, a member of Backward Classes Commission. Former BJP councillor Salman Khan, Vice-President Manoj Yadav, and other councilors expressed their joy over the removal of President Rajkumari Sinha through the successful no-confidence motion. Celebrations ensued with the distribution of sweets and the splashing of gulal. District Congress Committee Rural President Padam Kothari commented on the situation, stating that several meetings were held to address the concerns of the Congress councillors. However, disciplinary actions will be taken after a thorough review of the rebellious members.

 

Questions are also being raised about the role of the regional MLA in the upcoming elections. Multiple attempts were made to contact MLA Chhanni Sahu and deposed President Rajkumari Sinha, but calls went unanswered. Those present during the vote of no confidence motion included CM Chhuria Sachin Gupta, Congress Observer Rajendra Sahu, District Congress President Padam Kothari, Khujji MLA Chhanni Sahu, former Congress MLA Prakash Yadav, and BJP MP representative Romi Bhatia.
