Cracking a whip on shopkeepers and vendors who sell and use banned plastic carry bags and other such products, Jabalpur Municipal Corporation conducted a drive in Gorakhpur vegetable market, adjoining areas and realised fine from erring vendors and shopkeepers. Senior officials of Health Department informed that they are conducting drive in wards under all divisions and taking strict against shopkeepers and street vendors who are using substandard plastic carry bags within municipal limits.
 
Officials said employees of the department conducted the drive at market places and issued challan to nearly two dozen shopkeepers, vegetable vendors for selling or using banned plastic carry bags. Officials also realised spot fine from the vegetable vendors and also seized substandard plastic carry bags and other such items from them. Senior officials, including Assistant Health Officer, Chief Health Inspectors, Health Inspectors and Ward Supervisors are conducting the drive and continue the same to check sale or use of inferior quality plastic carry bags within municipal limits. The State Govt has banned manufacturing, transportation, sale and use of plastic carry bags. Therefore, the Municipal Corporation is toiling hard to put proper check over sale and use of prohibited plastic bags and other such products. Those conducted the drive were Health Inspector Monika Tumram, Aman Chourasia, Radha Pawar, Shamiyal, Rakesh and others.
