RAIPUR,
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of spreading lies and making misleading statements about the Congress government’s performance in State. Baghel’s comments came in response to PM Modi’s criticism of the Congress Government regarding corruption at the public rally in Raipur. Speaking to the media in State Capital on Friday, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel vehemently refuted PM Modi’s claims and defended his government’s record on various schemes. He accused Modi of spreading falsehoods regarding paddy procurement, Ayushman Bharat, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), Jal Jeevan Mission, and other initiatives. Baghel asserted that the Chhattisgarh government has outperformed BJP-ruled states in implementing these schemes.

Baghel further claimed that PM Modi had inaugurated projects in Chhattisgarh that were sanctioned during the previous UPA government, without providing any new financial support to State. He criticised the BJP for attempting to silence Rahul Gandhi in the Lok Sabha, resulting in his disqualification from membership. Taking to Twitter, Baghel wrote, “Modi ji, as soon as you arrived here, a wave of lies started flowing. State BJP leaders were continuously misleading the farmers that paddy is procured with the money of the Centre.” He accused PM Modi of spreading the ‘biggest lie’ about the central government’s involvement in 80 per cent of the state’s paddy procurement. Baghel questioned the Prime Minister about the farmers in his Lok Sabha constituency, Varanasi, who were reportedly forced to sell paddy at lower prices.

Baghel also criticised PM Modi for relying on incorrect information provided by BJP leaders in Chhattisgarh. He emphasised that his government had fulfilled its promises, including the loan waiver for farmers within two hours, as opposed to the BJP’s unfulfilled commitments of providing Rs 2,100 per quintal and bonus. Baghel expressed confidence that the farmers in Chhattisgarh cannot be misled and highlighted the positive steps taken by the Congress government for their welfare.
