The deceased Saraswati, was a post-graduate student in the Gynaecology Department at the Gandhi Medical college (GMC), said police. The cops found three empty injections, one of anaesthesia, around the scene. Police suspect overdose of anaesthesia behind her death. The Kohefiza police have begun a probe into the incident. Police said the medical reports found from the scene suggest she was also pregnant.
Doctor Saraswati Bala lived with her husband Jaivardhan Chowdhary in a flat at Kahkasha Apartment. It was around 07:30 am Saraswati’s husband Jaivardhan found her lying unconscious in their flat. He tried to revive her and raised alarm as she was not responding. Her husband rushed her to hospital where doctors pronounced her dead. The cops were informed and the body was sent for post-mortem. Police said that her PG was to end within six months. Her husband is a civil services aspirant, said the police.
Kohefiza police said that doctor Saraswati was a resident of Andhra Pradesh and had shifted to the flat only six months ago. Their neighbours claimed to police that they did not hear anything that indicates she was in trouble. They said they never heard them fighting or even arguing in their statements to the police. On the other hand the cops also questioned her colleagues and batch mates. SHO Vijay Singh said that the doctor shifted in the flat only six months ago. She had come to Bhopal from her native state in 2021, added the cop. He said that only the couple lived in the flat. The police have called her relatives who will reach Bhopal. SHO Singh said that her family lives in Bengaluru and their statements are likely to throw some light into what drove her to take the extreme step. One of the doctors in Hamidia said that she had not been able to appear in exam and had not been able to complete her thesis this year.
