Once a terror in the Chambal ravines of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, Malkhan Singh, joined the Congress party in Bhopal on Wednesday. He took membership at PCC office in presence of State President Kamal Nath. Santosh Sharma, who was District Education Officer in Sagar and Chhatarpur, also joined the Congress. Dreaded ex-bandit Malkhan Singh, who had 17 murder cases against him, while talking to the reporters said, “I would campaign for the Congress party and will do my bit to strengthen the party and ensure it’s win. Earlier, raised the gun against injustice, today I have sounded the bugle against injustice. We will clear the BJP in the 2023 Assembly elections. We will again make Kamal Nath sit on the Chief Minister’s chair.

Asked why he has joined hands with Kamal Nath after campaigning for BJP and praising Modi in 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the former bandit added that he once campaigned for the BJP knowing that it was a party with principles, but now injustice and atrocities have increased in the BJP regime. Rapes are happening, people’s lands are being snatched, that’s why I left the BJP. Agreeing with Malkhan Singh, PCC chief and former Chief Minister Kamal Nath said that the whole State is echoing the same thoughts.

This is the first time that the dreaded ex-bandit Malkhan Singh will canvass for any political party in Madhya Pradesh. Influenced by the Bharatiya Janata Party, he had earlier campaigned for the BJP and started campaigning for it. Malkhan Singh became the face of many platforms to campaign for Narendra Modi in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. In his speeches, he cursed the Congress and appealed to make Narendra Modi Prime Minister. In 2019, upset with the BJP for not giving ticket he left the party. Later, he joined Akhilesh Yadav’s uncle Shivpal Yadav’s Progressive Samajwadi Party. Contested the election from Dhaurahara Lok Sabha seat, but lost.
