BJP corporators have expressed great ire over Jabalpur Municipal Corporation’s urgency of immediate deployment of Aquatic Weed Harvester Machine worth Rs 2 crore into city’s water bodies without informing elected representatives. Raising concern over the action, BJP corporators said the haste has also bypassed customary process of involving local representatives in such decisions and performing religious rituals before operating a machine. Likewise, expressing dissatisfaction over appointment of an official, who was recently transferred amidst allegations of corruption, BJP Corporator Jitu Katare alleged that Health Officer Bhupendra Singh Baghel has extended significant support to the official.

Baghel has gone to great lengths to assign additional responsibilities to the official, including supervision of comprehensive cleaning and maintenance of all water bodies within the municipal limits. Additionally, a rented vehicle has been allocated to the officials for inspection purposes, he alleged. Katare said this responsibility, which was previously under the jurisdiction of Zone CSI, has now been shifted to the official.

He said under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Sanitation Inspector has been entrusted with complete oversight of all activities related to Integrated Solid Waste Management. This encompasses monitoring of various plants situated in Kathoda, which include Plastic Processing Plants, CNG plants and Biomedical Engineering Plants. These plants play a crucial role in generating electricity from waste materials. The BJP Corporator said despite holding a number of vital responsibilities, the official is given an additional liability of monitoring working of Aquatic Weed Harvester Machine smelt rat.
