The State’s Medical Education Department has ordered mass transfer of professors in Government Medical College and Hospitals (GMCHs), transferring over 92 professors across Maharashtra. The development is set to severely hamper medical services in the State. A lot of senior professors, who are about to retire within an year, may choose voluntary retirement over joining their new postings. Others are likely to approach the court against the transfer orders. The Education Department’s decision comes in spite of the fact that it is already facing a stay order on similar transfers ordered by it as recently as three months ago. According to the transfer orders, in Microbiology, Dr Sandip Kokate from Nagpur GMCH has been transferred to GMCH, Sambhaji Nagar. In the Department of Psychiatry Dr Manish Tiwari has been transferred from Gondia to Nagpur GMCH in place of Dr Saira Merchant. Dr Merchant will take charge at Gondia. In Surgery Department, Dr Arvind Aade has been brought to Trauma Care Centre at Nagpur from Akola.
Dr Abdul Qureishi has been transferred to Chandrapur from Nagpur Trauma Care Centre while Dr Brajesh Gupta has been transferred to Akola from Nagpur GMCH. In Department of Pathology, Dr Vikas Yedshikar will take charge at Yavatmal’s Shri Vasantrao Naik GMCH. Till now, he was working at Akola GMCH. In ENT, Dr Bhagyashri Bokare has been sent to Akola from Nagpur GMCH. In Medicine, Dr Rajesh Gosavi has been transferred to Gondia from Nagpur GMCH. In Microbiology, Dr Vandana Agrawal of Nagpur GMCH has been transferred to Akola while Dr Sharmila Raut, who had contributed a lot during COVID 19 has been transfered from Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH) to Dharashiv GMCH. In Department of Orthopaedics, Dr Mohd Faisal, the in-charge of Trauma Care Centre at Nagpur GMCH will take charge of Head at IGGMCH in place of Dr Maruti Koichade. Dr Koichade will join at Gondia GMCH. In Gynaecology Dr Shriniwas Gadappa and Dr Rohidas Chavan will exchange charge. Dr Gadappa will join at Yavatmal from Sambhaji Nagar while Dr Chavan will replace Dr Gadappa at Sambhaji Nagar. Dr Prashant Uike and Dr Sangita Ramteke of IGGMCH have been transfered to Chandrapur and Pune respectively. In department of Medicine, Dr Avinash Turankar from Nagpur GMCH has been transfered to Sambhajhi Nagar while Dr Mirza Shiraj Baig will come to Nagpur from Sambhaji Nagar. Dr Vandana Badar of IGGMCH will join at Pune.
In Microbiology Dr Swati Bhise has been transfered to IGGMCH from Dhule. In department of Skin, Dr Jayesh Mukhi will go to Latur from Nagpur GMCH while Dr Ajay Ovhal from Latur will replace him. Major changes have been witnessed in department of Anaesthesia too. Dr Lulu Fatima has been transfered to Gondia from Nagpur GMCH. Dr Vaishali Shelgaonkar who single-handedly looked after the Intensive Care Units in IGGMCH during coronavirus pandemic has been asked to take charge at Chandrapur. Dr A S Tarkase from Ambejogai will take charge at IGGMCH. Dr Ganesh Rathod from Akola has been sent to Sambhaji Nagar. In PSM, Dr Ashok Jadhav of IGGMCH has been transfered to Pune while Dr Murlidhar Tambe has been brought in his place. In Department of Anatomy, Dr Namdeo Kamdi from Nagpur GMCH has been transfered to Chandrapur. Dr Kamdi was recently given the additional charge of Wardha GMCH. Dr Sanobar Sheikh of Yavatmal will take charge at Akola. In Psychiatry also Dr Abhishek Somani has been transfered to Akola who will be replaced by Dr Shilpa Telgote from Akola. The contribution of Dr Somani in upgrading Psychiatry department at IGGMCH is valuable. During his tenure as Head, he took lot of efforts so that Psychiatry department has not only got recognition but received Post Graduate seats also.
