Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel inaugurated ‘Nagar Van Talpuri near Thagada Dam Durg and planted a sapling. In the programme organised on this occasion, he released the bird guide and Hariyar Durg booklet of the Forest Department.
Forest Minister Mohd Akbar, Panchayat Minister Ravindra Choubey and Agriculture Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu were also present. CM Baghel visited the forest area.
Talpuri Nagar Van is located in the center of Durg district, with a total area of about 300 (89.4 ha) acres.
A water reservoir is also located and the rest of the area has groups of trees of different species.
Biodiversity survey has been done in this area as a result of which a total of 103 species of flora and 295 species of fauna have been identified, in which some rare and new species have been identified under Durg district. Cuckoo, Parrot, Myna, Stork, Duck, Gray Headed Swam, Indian Roller, Green Bee Eater, Purple Herren, Asian Openbill, Lesser Whistling Duck, Indian Spot Bill Duck, Combe Duck Cotton Tail, Kingfisher Common Quill, Gray Falcon etc. are regional species here. Birds and Falcated Duck: Bar Headed Goose, Red Crested Pochard, Godwill, Northern Pintail, Gray Headed Swamhen etc.
Migratory birds are found. Many species of moles are also found
in this region.
Here a Lotus pond has also been established near the main reservoir, in which different types of lotus species have also been planted for beauty. An open theater has also been made in Nagar Van for various welfare programs and workshops.
Facilities have been provided
along the routes throughout the
City Forest for sitting, relaxing and spending time.
For the residents of Durg city, it is a delectable place for recreation, health and natural beauty.
