FARMERS of remote areas are being benefitted under Saur Sujala Yojana. Farmers are increasing their income by taking two crops. Saur Sujala Yojana is proving boon to make the farmers financially prosperous and to strengthen the rural economy in the State. Irrigation facilities are being provided to farmers by providing solar pumps, and this benefit is given to those farmers who already have water sources like rivers, ponds, wells and borewells. It is being implemented in the state by the Chhattisgarh State Renewable Energy Development Agency. In this regard, the official of the CREDA department said that 9143 farmers of the district have been given the benefit of the scheme. Farmers are now producing more than two crops by taking advantage of the scheme. Banarasi Mehta, a farmer of Chandanpur village of Ramchandrapur development block of Balrampur district has installed a solar pump on 1.5 acres of cultivable land for irrigation with the help of CREDA department after mining tubewells.

 

At present, paddy and green vegetables are being cultivated on the land. This led to increase his income. In the year 2023-24, a solar pump of 03 HP was installed by farmer Sukumar of Krishna Nagar village of Balrampur development block. He has about 1.5 acres of agricultural land. Due to delay in rains this year, he could not transplant paddy. However, installing solar pump led to timely transplant the paddy. Apart from paddy, he is also producing green vegetables. Saur Sujala Yojana helped farmers in producing Rabi and Kharif crops as well as greens vegetables without any hassle. All types of agriculture, vegetable production and other works are being done smoothly due to the end of the water problem. Farmers are getting additional profit. The official of the CREDA department said that at present the district has achieved the target of installing 1500 pumps under the scheme.
