It was indeed a memorable day for the Editorial team of ‘The Hitavada’, Bhopal Edition, as the staffers had accompanied Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan where he called upon everyone to encourage public participation in plantation of saplings in their respective areas. The Chief Minister planted saplings of Peepal, Kadamba and Maulshri in the garden located at Shyamala Hills on Thursday. On the occasion, The Chief Minister said, “trees are called ‘lungs of the earth’. This comes with a reason, life on earth cannot exist without trees. Trees are responsible for sustaining the environment in several ways. Trees are best friend of humans on earth.”

 

They are an essential part of our life, performing a range of functions that helps to maintain a balance in the ecosystem. In simple terms, tree plantation refers to planting seedlings for various forestry, land reclamation and landscaping purposes in a planned manner. Sapling plantation process includes planning, planting, irrigation, maintenance etc. Issues of air pollution-related crises, global warming, and even climate change have escalated due to human activities. It is essential to understand that plantation is important not just for sustenance of life but for securing the future of present generation.

 

The CM started this campaingn on February 19, 2021, in Shubhdhara area of Amarkantak in Anuppur district on Narmada Jayanti where he took a pledge to plant one sapling everyday. Since that day till today he never missed a single day of planting sapling. Despite a very busy schedule, the CM never forgets to plant a sapling. Along with Chief Minister Chouhan, Bhupendra Singh and child Aryan Mahala planted saplings on their birthdays. Nupur Sengupta, Deepak Tyagi, Kumar Ankur, Kirti Mahala and others were also present.
