Decomposed carcass of a tiger was found at compartment number-240 at Khamodidadar beat of Bhaisanghat Circle in core area of Kanha Tiger Reserve. A forest patrolling team found the decomposed carcass during patrolling and immediately informed the senior officers. Learning about the incident, Field Director of Kanha Tiger Reserve S K Singh, accompanied by Deputy Director and team of veterinarians, reached the spot and started investigation into the case.
Kanha Field Director S K Singh, talking to ‘The Hitavada’, informed that prima facie it appears that a tiger aged around 18-24 months died due to uncertain reasons around 8-10 days back and its carcass was found by forest patrolling team in core area of the park in Khamodidadar beat. The carcass of quickly disposed of by scavengers as bones of carcass were found around the spot of incident.
Field Director informed that any authentic reason behind the death of tiger could not be ascertained due to completely decomposed carcass. Autopsy of the carcass was carried out by team of senior veterinarians led by Dr Sandeep Agrawal in presence of National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA), New Delhi’s representative Priya Warekar and Field Director S K Singh. The remains have been preserved for further scientific investigations to ascertain reason behind the death of big cat.
