Commercial Department of Jabalpur Rail Division raided the Pantry Car of Pawan Express Train and seized sub-standard quality of packaged drinking water and spurious vegetables between Sihora Road and Jabalpur Railway Stations. Senior DCM, Vishwa Ranjan informed that keeping in view of safety of passengers and providing them best services in trains, a team of Commercial Department conducted surprise inspection in Pantry Car of train number 11062 Pawan Express. In the raid, team found stock of unauthorised packaged drinking water and spurious quality of vegetables in the pantry car. Team has seized 788 bottles of unauthorised packaged drinking water and spurious quality of vegetables from the pantry car.

 

Commercial Department has took action against the Manager of Pantry Car for allowing its vendors for selling of unauthorised packaged drinking water and use of spurious quality of vegetables for cooking food for passengers. Besides this, team found filthy and unhygienic condition of Pantry Car. The Pantry Car was being operated by a private firm of New Delhi and its report was forwarded to the Principal Chief Commercial Manager of West Central Railway for taking further action against the contractor. Similarly, during the surprise inspection, TTEs caught 37 passengers while travelling without tickets and 82 passengers were caught while travelling with irregular tickets and imposed financial penalty of Rs. 43,000 on them.
