NAGPUR, led by Puranik brothers Vishnu and Arun, R Deshpande, Samir Roy, Anil Mohota and M Luley, emerged champions in Independence Day Duplicate Bridge Tournament organised by Vidarbha Bridge Association at Hotel Airport KK off Wardha Road. Competing from a field of 11 teams from Vidarbha region, in 50 deals contest played across 5 rounds of 10 boards each, Nagpur scored 62.91 VP which helped them secure top honours and winners purse. Just behind them were Team Friends with 62.48 VP and secured second position.

 

Their team consisted of Laxminarayan, Basuri, A Sarode and S Shrivastava. Mohota finished third with a tally of 61.05 VP. Mohota team included Basant Mohota, S Chhajjed, father and son duo of Raja and Amit Rewatkar and Kumra brothers Neeraj and Sanjeev. In IMP Pairs event, M Diwan an M Dutta duo clinch top honours from a field of 17 pairs in 26 deals contest. A Karandikar and A Pendse duo finished runners-up. Rewatkars walk away with third position. Attractive cash prizes were awarded to all the winners.

AGM of VBA on August 27 Annual General Meeting of Vidarbha Bridge Association will be held on August 27 at 4:30 pm at VBA sports complex, Shankar Nagar. Bridge buffs from all over Vidarbha region will go to polls to elect their executive office-bearers for two years.
