VIDARBHA Defence Industries Association (VDIA) signed an agreement with Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) here at District Collector office on Wednesday for setting up high-end training centre-cum-workshop at the VEDIC - Centre of Excellence Skill & Entrepreneurship Development at Yantra India Limited premises at Ambazari. This significant development towards creating employable skilled work force was endorsed by the District Collector, Nagpur, Dr Vipin Itankar. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoA) was signed in Dr Itankar’s august presence between Dilip Gondnale from VDIA and T K Bharadwaj, National Sales Head, Farm Machinary, M&M Ltd, Farm Division, Mumbai. District Collector Dr Vipin Itankar welcomed this collaboration and offered all support from his district administration team to reach out to people and make this initiative successful and replicable in other parts of Nagpur region for skill development of local and rural youths under the Mission-2025 for livelihood training and self-employment.

 

This centre is being established at VEDIC–VDIA Engineering Design Innovation Centre of Excellence for Skill and Entrepreneurship under the consortium of VDIA and Yantra India Limited, Ambazari, for imparting skill and practical training by experts from M&M. This is a first of its kind skill training centre in Maharashtra supported by M&M, which is investing several lakhs of rupees for creating hi-end training centre cum on job training facility. More such centres are to be established at three locations in rest of Maharashtra in collaboration with VDIA, to train local and rural youths for offering initially tractor technician course and few other courses for unemployed youths in tractor repairs and maintenance. T K Bhatnagar, Head Customer Care, M&M said, “M&M is pioneer in introducing automation in the tractor industry segment and is complementing its support for training and opportunities for self employment by offering support to the trainees to start their own dealerships and service centres in rural areas”. He further expressed his happiness that VDIA has come forward to bridge the deep gap in industry specific skill training and entrepreneurship support to the aspiring.
