The teams of Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) razed illegal constructions and encroachment of accused at Ayodhya Nagar liquor shop on Thursday. The action was taken after an attack on police team at the shop on Tuesday night. The cops from Ayodhya Nagar Police Station, accompanied the BMC team, were in action to prevent any untoward incident. The anti-encroachment cell of BMC reached Kakada on Thursday morning and razed the parking and other encroachment.
Besides, the hand carts and other such shops were also removed that were running illegally in the area. The action continued for over two hours in presence of policemen on the day. Notably, constable Kalyan Singh of the Ayodhya Nagar Police Station and a driver in first response vehicle of police were assaulted by four accused late Tuesday night. The accused were drinking near the liquor shop around 1 am when the police team reached there.
As constable Singh questioned the accused to for drinking and ordered driver to click their images, the four accused attacked him. Singh and driver Ajay Gaur sustained injuries in the attack. Singh has sustained fractures in his fingures. A video of the incident also went viral on the day which triggered panic on social media. The cops arrested two out of the four accused involved in the attack at the spot. The Bhopal Police has sent a letter to the Excise Department seeking action against late night operation of the shop. The Excise Department had earlier taken action against another liquor shop of the accused. Now, they will take action against the shop at Ayodhya Nagar soon. Assistant Excise Commissioner of Bhopal Deepam Raichura said that they are waiting for the letter by police department after which action will be taken at the shop where the recent incident occurred.
