The import of a small news report of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) making the 14th arrest in the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) revival conspiracy case, and time-period during which the conspiracy is in operation, hint at a wider design against India as well as the geopolitical region. Lid was blown off the LTTE revival conspiracy case some two years ago with arrest of some persons. Investigations, which are still going on, revealed that drugs and arms supply through fishing vessels operating between Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka was an inherent part of the revival plan that aimed at creating disturbance in the island nation. Interestingly, a Pakistan-based drug and arms supplier’s name also had figured in the case. It is no secret that Pakistan has been blinded by hatred towards India. Out of this hatred, it has been trying to destabilise India by fomenting trouble through border areas, especially Punjab and Rajasthan, and also West Bengal.

 

Name of those operating from Pakistan figuring in LTTE revival conspiracy case adds one more dimension to the tale. Pakistan has turned itself into a rogue nation where saner minds are dominated by radicals active in breeding volatilities. So, it has become a den of terrorists and drug mafia sourcing material from Afghanistan. Besides, it has emerged as facilitator of narcotics and arms trade through Punjab, coastal areas of Tamil Nadu, and such parts of India, as well as through Nepal and Sri Lanka. Also, there is a network of fake currency notes, which has been curbed to a great extent since demonetisation of notes of certain denominations in India. Radicals supporting Pakistan still active in Bangladesh, are behind disturbance in Assam and West Bengal. While Pakistan has been trying to destabilise India, Communist China is indirectly supporting Pakistan by blocking bids to declare certain individuals (having tacit support of Pakistan) as global terrorists. Not long ago, China’s debt trap landed Sri Lanka in trouble. China has been playing destabilisation game in Nepal too by trying to control some Nepalese territory, which had created quite a stir some time ago. Its support to military junta in Myanmar has often come in for discussion.

 

Drugs trade links with Myanmar also had figured in recent strife in Indian State of Manipur. Over the years, India has risen as the only responsible power in the region with firm belief in the practice of principles of mutual co-operation for stability and peace in the neighbourhood. India has helped Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, and even Pakistan in their times of crisis. While India has a democratically elected Government at the helm of affairs, Pakistan is no longer a functional democracy and the universally accepted principles of democracy are alien to China. Blinded by selfish goals, these two powers are colluding to weaken the region’s voice at the international forums without realising the strength of co-operation. Whatever might be the designs of Pakistan and China against a rising India, they are proving to be irresponsible powers as their actions are destabilising not only India but also the entire geopolitical region. The LTTE revival conspiracy case has to be viewed from this wider angle. That, India has been ably countering these conspiracies needs no explanation. But, there has to be an awareness of conspiracies and wider links among the ordinary Indian citizens.
