Sensation gripped the administrative circle here as the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) of Aheri proposed suspension of five employees in his office except a Naib Tehsildar and a peon. The reason cited was dereliction of duty and inefficiency at work. SDO Vaibhav Waghmare, an Indian Administrative Services officer working as Assistant Collector and SDO, himself confirmed the action and stated that the actual suspension orders would be issued by night and would be submitted to the higher authorities for approval. When asked about the action taken by the Aheri SDO, District Collector Sanjay Meena said that show cause notices have been issued and he could comment only after they (the employees) filed their replies with the SDO.

Meanwhile, the SDO refused to give the names of the staff concerned and their exact number citing administrative reasons. The suspension orders were, however, not issued till the filing of this report. Waghmare joined recently as the Sub-Divisional Officer of Aheri. The SDO went to his office on the scheduled time on Monday morning and found that only two of his staff, the Naib Tehsildar and a peon, were present on time. The SDO waited for sometime but the other employees did not turn up to the office. Taking serious cognizance of this, the SDO locked the office and then started his process of official action. The information further revealed that the suspension has been proposed against the five staff members who did not report to the office in time on Monday. The SDO had observed that the officials in his office were inefficient in their work and negligent in duties. He alleged that they would keep their work pending and were not prompt in perfroming their duties. They were not committed towards the office work, he alleged.

These officials were earlier issued show cause notices several times and their clarification was sought but neither their clarification was satisfactory nor their was any improvement in their behaviour and work, informed Waghmare. “I was therefore left with no other option but to place these officials under suspension that is why I have proposed the action of their suspension except the two-the naib tehsildar and the peon,” informed Waghmare to this correspondent. The actual suspension orders will be issued by night and will be submitted for the approval to the higher officers, he added.
“Similar action will be taken against the other officials under my jurisdiction if they are found negligent towards their duties,” warned the officer further.
