Vice-President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar will inaugurate the centenary celebrations of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU). The programme will be held on August 4, at 3.30 pm at Kavivarya Suresh Bhat Sabhagruh, Reshimbag. Sharing the information with the mediapersons, Vice-Chancellor of RTMNU Dr Subhash Chaudhari said, “Governor of Maharashtra Ramesh Bais will preside over the function. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Union Minister of Surface Transport Nitin Gadkari, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil will be special guests. Five stalwarts will be awarded with prestigious Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Jeevan Sadhana Puraskar. The university will also distribute Ideal Educational Institution award, Ideal Officer award, Ideal employee award, Best student award.”
 
Those who will receive Jeevan Sadhana Award include doyen of Zadi-Patti Rangbhumi Dr Harishchandra Borkar, owner of Haldiram Shiv Kisan Agrawal, noted researcher and teacher Dr H F Daginawala, one of the founders of Sampoorna Bamboo Kendra Dr Nirupama Deshpande, and ex-Minister, Educationist Suresh alias Bapusaheb Deshmukh. Shri Nagpur Gujarati Mandal that runs VMV College has been adjudged as Best Education Institution. Deputy Registrar of College Section Dr Raman Madne, Assistant Registrar Ganesh Kumkumwar will receive Ideal Officer Award. Among those who will receive the Ideal Employee Award include Pradip Ghyar, Arun Hattewar, Vilas Ghode, Bhaskar Shende. Deputy Registrar Pradip Biniwale will receive Principal Balraj Aher Memorial Gold Medal. Deputy Registrar Waseem Ahmed, Garden Superintendent Pravin Gotmare, Rajendra Balpande, Darpan Gajbhiye will receive Centenary Festival Gold Medal.
 
In students’ award section, the awards will be given in three categories. They include Best Student, Best Cultural Activity, Best NCC Cadet. In Best Student section Vishal Rajkumar Kharchwal of Shivaji Science and Anushka Nag have been adjudged as winners. In cultural activity section, the team of Jury has selected Ashutosh Ajay Tiwari of R S Mundle Dharampeth Arts and Commerce College and Ashlesha Rajesh Khante of Nabira College, Katol. Two students of G S Commerce College, Wardha--Sahil Bhimrao Khelkar and Aarzu Samir Khan Pathan will get the Best NCC Cadet award. Those present at the press conference were Registrar Dr Raju Hiwase, Dean of Commerce and Management Dr Sanjay Kawishwar, members of Centenary Celebrations Committee Dr Anant Pande and Dr Santosh Kasbekar, Deputy Registrar Pradip Biniwale, Director of Students Welfare Mangesh Pathak, Public Relations Officer Prem Wadkar and others.
