Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Research & Training Institute (Mahajyoti) has cancelled the work order given to the agency that was conducting examinations for pre-UPSC and pre-MPSC training programmes of the institute. The decision has been taken after probe into the allegations of irregularities in conduct of exams for pre-UPSC and pre-MPSC coaching programme of Mahajyoti. The said agency had conducted the exam for admission to pre-UPSC coaching programme on July 16, 2023, and that for admission to pre-MPSC coaching programme on July 30, 2023. Rajesh Khawale, Managing Director of Mahajyoti, had appointed Chief Accounts and Finance Officer (CAFO), to conduct enquiry into the allegations regarding use of unfair means by some candidates appearing for the examination conducted for admission to pre-UPSC coaching programme. Accordingly, the enquiry officer sought a report from the agency conducting the exam.
While the enquiry into allegations of irregularities in examination for admission to pre-UPSC coaching programme was on, Mahajyoti asked the said agency to conduct examination for admission to pre-MPSC coaching programme to avoid academic loss of candidates. However, some of the candidates appearing for the pre-MPSC examination alleged that the examination paper had several questions directly borrowed from a test paper of a particular training institute. Khawale asked the CAFO to enquire into these allegations too. The CAFO again sought explanation from the agency.
After probe, the CAFO submitted report to Khawale. In the report, the agency has been accused of callousness. Citing the inconvenience caused to the candidates appearing for the exams, maligning of the image of Mahajyoti, and callousness in conduct of examination, Mahajyoti cancelled the work order of the agency conducting the examinations. The order in this regard was issued on Thursday. Now, Mahajyoti will be conducting the examinations for admissions to pre-UPSC and pre-MPSC coaching programmes, afresh. For the conduct of the examination, process for selection of new agency has been initiated.
