On the occasion of National Handloom Day - August 7, Maharashtra State Handlooms Corporation Ltd (MSHC), Nagpur will be celebrating the ‘National Handloom Day’ on August 7 in a special way. Maharashtra State Handlooms Corporation Ltd, Nagpur will be launching sale from August 5 to August 16 at its premises ‘MahaHandloom,’ MSHC Complex, Umrer Road. Under the sale, a person buying handloom product online can get additional 5 per cent discount during this period and additional 10 per cent discount if a person buys from its authorised centre.

 

This was revealed at a press conference organised at the centre on August 4. Apart from this, a fashion show is being organised at the ‘MahaHandloom’centre at 11 am on August 7 and the master weavers would be felicitated and certificates would be distributed to the students. People in large numbers should take benefit of the sale. On the occasion, a tussar cloth with Gond painting on envelope of the Postal Department would be unveiled.

 

The National Handloom Day is celebrated on August 7 every year. It was initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2015. The National Handloom Day is observed on August 7 to commemorate the launch of the Swadeshi Movement. The day is marked to honour the handloom-weaving community of India and to highlight the contribution of the handloom sector to the socio-economic development of the country.
