THE rescued female tiger cub that was under observation at the Transit Treatment Centre (TTC) died on Saturday morning. Five teams of forest Department are still on their toes to trace missing tigress in Ballarpur range of Chandrapur district, informed a senior officer of Central Chanda Division. On September 7, a forest guard of Ballarpur range, on routine patrolling, found two carcasses of tiger cubs in Kalamana beat under Ballarpur forest range. A female tiger cub that was alive near the carcasses was rescued by Forest officials. The cub was shifted to TTC, Chandrapur, for medical check-up. It was kept under observation where veterinary doctors monitored its condition.

 

But the cub was not consuming food at TTC. The doctors were left with no option but to inject saline. Unfortunately, the cub could not survive and breathed its last on Saturday morning, informed a senior officer of Central Chanda Division. He further informed that one of the two carcasses of tiger cubs found at Kalamana beat was of a male of around 4-months. Five teams comprising 70-80 forest personnel are still combing the area to trace the missing tigress in Ballarpur and nearby ranges in Central Chanda Division. Around 50 camera traps have been installed in the range to locate the movement of missing tigress, he added.
