VIDARBHA Veteran Cricket Association defeated hosts Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association by 13 runs to clinch the Legends Masters T20 Cricket Tournament at the Maulana Azad Stadium in Jammu. The tournament was organised by Veterans Cricket Association of Jammu and Kashmir. Four teams participated in the tournament namely North India, Mumbai Board Presidency, Veteran Cricket Association Jammu and Kashmir and Vidarbha Veteran Cricket Association. Vidarbha team made it to the final by winning two out of three matches in the league-cum-knock-out tournament. In the final, Vidarbha posted 123 runs for nine wickets in 20 overs. Sanjay Pawar (21) Vikram Batra (20), Prashant Javanjal (20) and skipper Abhishek Chaudhary (20) were the main run getters for Vidarbha. Vicky Raina took four wickets and Surinder Kachru took two for the host side.
In reply, Vidarbha restricted the Jammu and Kashmir to 110 for nine wickets in 20 overs to clinch the cup. For Jammu and Kashmir, Irfan Dar (24), Sunil Bali (15) and Rajesh Khatri (13) could score in double figures. Vidarbha’s Sridhar Gadgil, Kranti Pawar and Manish Gaur took two wickets each and Preshit Chitale and Vikram Batra took one wicket each. Vidarbha’s Kranti Pawar won the man of the match award while Vikram Batra was named best batsman of the tournament, Captain Chaudhary was awarded as the best fielder and Jammu and Kashmir’s Vicky Raina was declared as the best player. VVCA President Makarand Kulkarni, Vice-President Abhijit Deshpande, Secretary Sarang Degwekar, Sameer Sahastrabuddhe and Anant Narle congratulated the winning team.
