Jabalpur Local Centre of Institute of Engineers (India) and Jawaharlal Nehru Agriculture University (JNAU) jointly organised a two-day 35th National Convention of Agricultural Engineers and National Seminar on ‘Emerging Technologies for Advances in Agriculture and Horticulture’ with the collaboration of National Agriculture Higher Education Project on Tuesday. The national convention was graced by Dr S N Jha, Deputy Director General (Agriculture Engineering) Indian Council of Agriculture Research, New Delhi as chief guest, whereas Vice-chancellor, Dr Pramod Mishra presided over it. Dr Jha, Deputy Director General in his address, appealed everyone to contribute to overcome the drawbacks of new technologies in Agriculture Engineering and meet the future challenges. “We need to aware the farmers in rural areas to use new technologies and machineries prepared by our engineers to make farming a profitable business.”
Vice-chancellor Dr Mishra said that everyone needs to get prepared to face the future challenges in agriculture field. The agriculture engineers have to make better workplan in right direction to implement their ideas. Chairman, Organising Committee IEI, Prakash Chandra Dubey delivered welcome speech and brief about the programme. Director, Central Institute of Agriculture, Dr C R Mehta through power-point presentation, explained about new innovations in the field of Agriculture Engineering. Director, MP Agriculture Engineering, Rajeev Choudhary updated the gathering about various efforts being made in agriculture engineering to make agriculture a progressive and profitable business. The Department presently works on skill development, drone technique, pilot training, custom hiring centre to improve agriculture sector.
Dr M Nemi Chandrappa, Chairman AJDB from Rechur Karnataka said that thie convention will motivate the agriculture students to continue their research with a new outlook. Along with various publications released by the invited dignitaries, different awards including IEI, Eminent Engineer Award 2022-23 for Agriculture Engineering Division, IEI Lifetime Achievement Award 2022-23 for Agriculture Engineering Division, IEI Young Engineers Award 2023-24 for Agriculture Engineering Division and R Tagore Memorial Lecture Award. More than 300 participants attended the event.
