Founder of Antarbharati Ashram, Dabha, well-known Homoeopath and philanthropist Dr Madhukar alias Bhausaheb Ganpatrao Zite passed away on early morning of Tuesday. He was 93. He leaves behind a host of relatives and friends to mourn the loss. Born on November 20, 1930 at Pachgaon in Yavatmal district to a poor farmer family, Dr Zite did his school education from Wardha’s New English High School. He completed his graduation in Homoepathy in 1955 and did his practice at the clinic of Dr Gumasta at Khamla. In 1959, Dr Zite bought a 10-acre land at Dabha, and established Antarbharati Ashram. His only motto was to serve patients. Gradually, he established residential treatment facilities for people’s convenience in Antarbharati premises. In 1975, Dr Zite started Homoeopath College.

Currently, indoor and outdoor patient care is available at the Ashram with 50-bed hospital. Dr Zite took care that patient should not go back without being treated. Free treatment is given at the Ashram for financially weak patients. Ashram’s doors remain open for every patient. Because of his service-providing attitude, people called Dr Zite as Maharishi. He was honored with many awards in recognition of his service. As a tribute to his work, ‘Maharshi Dr Bhausaheb Zite Gaurav Granth’ is also being published.

Dr Zite never took any grant to run the Ashram and tried to maintain discipline and moral values. Acharya Dada Dharmadhikari, Yadunath Thatte used to visit the Ashram. Every year, Gandhian Annasaheb Sahastrabudhe stayed at the Ashram for two months. Shivaji Bhave, brother of Acharya Vinoba Bhave had donated royalty of his book to the Ashram. On February 14, Antarbharati Ashram celebrates its Foundation Day. The same day Vishwashanti Sammelan was organised. Around 2,000 people gathered to participate in the Vishwashanti Sandesh Yatra. Bhausaheb tried to organise various activities to have the feel of Ashram in the premises. His demise shocked many people who later thronged the Ashram to pay their respects.
