Sensation prevailed at filling section 9 at Ordnance Factory Khamaria (OFK) when spark occurred and a contractual employee sustained partial burn injury in building number 129 on Wednesday morning. Receiving the information, a large number of employees and senior officers rushed to the spot and took stock of the situation. The injured has been identified as Raghunath Kumar. He was rushed to the hospital where he was given primary treatment and discharged after being under observation after two hours.

 

OFK, General Manager, M N Haldar, while talking to ‘The Hitavada’, informed that the incident took place when an employee named Raghunath was trying to take out mould from delay tube of multi-mode hand grenade. In prima facie of the investigation, it has been found that mould was stuck in the delay tube and employee tried to take it out forcibly and the spark occurred. OFK, Public Relation Officer, in a press release, informed that the cleaning of mould and punch of ammunition is regularly carried out but there is possibility of sparking in case some elements of composition remain in the spot.
