RAIPUR,
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Corporators will take a foot march on Friday at 12 noon to the official residence of Chief Minister for lodging their protest against the miserable and dilapidated conditions of city roads in State Capital, particularly road earmarked for the procession route of Lord Ganesha tableau, which will be taken out on 11th day of festivities, which is fast ensuing. Taking a cognizance of the issue, coupled with scores of public feedback on horrible condition of the city roads, to which the main reason has been attributed to unabated digging, BJP Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) Minal Choubey convened an emergency meeting of the BJP Corporators. The meeting decided to take up the matter to the highest level by drawing the attention of the Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and therefore they came to the conclusion of taking out a foot-march to the official residence of the state’s highest administrative functionary.
The foot march will be taken out from Gandhi Sadan here. It is pertinent here to mention that the route of immersion procession being taken out every year witnesses massive footfall of several thousand devotees from all over the state. The procession, which begins from Jaistambh Chowk via Malviya Road, Sadar Bazaar, Satti Bazaar, Kankali Para, Purani Basti, Lakhenagar, culminates at Mahadev Ghat Road-situated immersion site. Meanwhile, during the meeting, the BJP corporators also decided that they will particularly put forth their demand to the Chief Minister for swift construction of the procession route road, in addition to Rs 50 lakh for taking up development works in 70 wards of Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) limits. “Despite the recommendations in past two general body meetings and successive perusal by the ward corporators, Raipur Mayor Aijaz Dhebar has failed to get funds of Rs 50 lakh for each ward, released from the Chhattisgarh Government. The fallout of the Mayor’s failure to get the funds had stalled the entire process of inviting proposals and tendering for the works,” accused LoP Minal Choubey and spokesperson Mrityunjay Dubey.
The duo further said that the Mayor had recently assured again to a group of BJP Corporators upon being broached on the matter that the Chief Minister has agreed to release the fund with a week span, but not a penny has been received even more than a fortnight had passed since then and forget alone the initiation of tendering process. “Thus, the emergency meeting was necessitated wherein all the BJP Corporators unanimously decided to take out a footmarch to CM’s official residence on Friday noon and submit a memorandum demanding immediate intervention from Bhupesh Baghel in this regard,” they added. The meeting was also well attended by Sarita Verma, Vishwadini Pandey, Rajesh Thakur, Bholaram Sahu, Kunwar Rajyant Singh, Amar Bansal, Gopesh Sahu, Ravi Dhruv, Chandrapal Dhangar, Dr Seema Kandoi and others.
