Bhopal Mayor Mati Rai has instructed the sanitation staff to wear uniform while being on duty. She was on a routine visit to the areas of DIG bungalow, Teela Jamalpura, Berasia road, Chowk Bajaar, Zumerati, Loha Bazaar, Peer Gate, Green Park Colony and others on Thursday. She expressed displeasure upon finding the sanitation supervisors sans uniform during the visit in ward numbers 12 and 15. They were asked to wear uniform during the duty hours. Rai said that the garbage should be segregated before collection by the civic body staff. Also, the segregated waste should only be disposed off to the landfill site, she said.
The officials were also instructed to ensure no staff works without uniform else there will be strict action against the offenders, she said. She took stock of cleanliness around the nullahs in these areas. Due to the cleanliness survey the civic body staffs are working round the clock to keep the streets, nullahs and markets clean. Mayor Rai herself is visiting the lanes and by lanes of Bhopal to ensure city should remain clean.
