Reacting to the heinous incident of gangrape in the heart of the Capital city, Bharatiya Janata Party Spokesperson, MLA Ranjana Sahu said that during the Congress rule in Chhattisgarh, the dignity and safety of innocent girls to elderly women have been compromised. Sahu stated that the recent gangrape incident involving a minor girl in the multi-level parking near the ASP office, close to the Jai Stambh Square in the capital, is another shameful example of the ineffectiveness of the Congress Government in the State. She mentioned that while the Congress Government was indulging in political theatrics by organising women’s empowerment meetings, horrifying incidents like the brutal assault on a minor girl were taking place in the capital.

The MLA Sahu pointed out that in the past month, several cases of gangrape against women have occurred in the capital and nearby areas, tarnishing the State’s reputation. However, the Bhupesh Baghel-led Government appears to be unaffected by these incidents. They continue to make claims of improved law and order and women’s safety in the State, while the harsh reality is that newspapers are filled with horrific reports of rape every day. Sahu questioned why Chief Minister Baghel and even Priyanka Vadra have remained silent on such heinous crimes, despite conducting events in the name of women. She criticised Priyanka Vadra, who has used slogans like ‘Ladki Hun, Lad Sakti Hun’ for not making an effort to understand the real situation of women in Chhattisgarh. Sahu asked if Priyanka Vadra has ever inquired about the plight of women in Chhattisgarh, including the horrifying and inhumane incidents involving girls and elderly women. She questioned whether Priyanka Vadra, who sheds crocodile tears for Manipur and Uttar Pradesh cases, has ever sought answers from the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh regarding these shameful and brutal incidents. She wondered if Priyanka Vadra has started weighing the dignity of women, including those who have suffered from rape, on the scales of political gains and losses.
