Raipur Police seized 355 kg of silver jewellery from three persons travelling in a car during a vehicle checking drive in the Sadar Bazaar area of the Capital city Friday. Its price has been estimated at Rs 2,77,52,789. The accused were transporting the silver from Agra to Raipur by filling it in different sacks.
All three accused are residents of Agra. When the police got information about
the smuggling of silver,
hey set up a checking point in Sadar Bazaar. They cordoned off the suspicious-looking car UP/80/FF/0150 and checked it.
During this, 355 kg of silver jewellery was found. When the police asked for documents in this regard, the concerned persons could not give any confirmation. On this, the police seized 355 kg of silver from the possession of the accused and arrested them.
The three persons onboard the vehicle were arrested. On enquiry, their names were revealed to be Sanjay Agrawal, Nahar Singh and Ramkumar Singh residents of Agra, Uttar Pradesh. The silver jewellery was stacked in different bags and sacks in the car. Police station Kotwali section 102 of CrPC.
