The heavy downpour that lashed entire city on early Saturday morning washed out all the three opening day matches of Bapuna Cup T20 Cricket Tournament. On the opening day, Mumbai were pitted against Bapuna XI, Chhattisgarh were to take on Madhya Pradesh and Baroda were up against Dinshaw XI. But heavy rains and wet ground conditions made it impossible to play. The umpires will decide Sunday’s fixtures depending upon the weather. However, the 27th edition of the tournament was inaugurated by Parheez Gimi, President, Bapuna Group of Companies at VCA Civil Lines Stadium.

 

Also present were Sanjay Badkas, Secretary, Vidarbha Cricket Association and players from Mumbai, Baroda, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh Bapuna XI and Dinshaw XI. Badkas in his speech thanked Bapuna Group for their support to the game for the last 26 years and hoped that this long-lasting relationship with VCA will continue. Farokh Dastoor, CEO, VCA proposed a vote of thanks.
