Jayant accorded warm welcome

NAGPUR’S international swimmer Jayant Jaiprakash Duble, who successfully crossed the Catalina Channel in the United States of America recently, was accorded warm reception upon his arrival in the city on Sunday. Including the Catalina Channel that is a part of Pacific Ocean and considered to be the toughest of the Oceans Seven in the world, Jayant has crossed three major channels in the past one year. Jayant crossed the English Channel (England to France and return, 70 kms) in July with his relay team and had swam North Channel (Northern Ireland to Scotland, 35kms) with a relative earlier, hold this unique record of swimming three major channels across the world in one year.
 
Jayant and his coach father Jaiprakash were received warmly at the Nagpur Railway Station. A rally from railway station to Krida Square was taken to mark the occasion. At Gandhi Gate, the duo garlanded the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. PI Imamwada Pravin Kamde and his team welcomed the father son duo at Medical College Square.
Later, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari felicitated Jayant at Mahal. MLC Pravin Datke, Girish Vyas, Nago Ganar, Ravindra Fadnavis and others were prominently present.
 
MLC Dr Abhijit Wanjari, Dronacharya and Arjuna Awardee Vijay Munishwar, NMC Sport Officer Piyush Ambulkar, Dr Sharda Naidu, Sanjay Dudhe, Dhiraj Gajbhiye and others feted Jayant at end of the rally at Krida Square. Dr Sambhaji Bhonsale, Sudhir Abhyankar, Harshal Ghate, Dimple Naidu, Sham Falke, Pravin Dhore, Sushil Duragkar, Dr Suraj Yeotikar helped in organising the rally.
