The sanitation workers, who tirelessly contribute their labour day-and-night to maintain cleanliness in the city were honoured with grandeur at Manas Bhavan Auditorium, on Monday. To felicitate the sanitation workers, MLA Vinay Saxena and Mayor Jagat Bahadur Singh personally reached each of them, applied a tilak on their foreheads, offered pearl garlands and presenting them with shawls as a mark of respect. Meanwhile, the female sanitation workers were felicitated by Vinay Preeti Saxena along with City President Mahila Congress, Kamlesh Yadav, Indira Pathak Tiwari and other female Congress leaders. The female sanitation workers were felicitated with pearl necklaces and sarees.
Addressing a huge gathering on the occasion, MLA Saxena praised the exceptional services rendered by sanitation workers during the COVID era, acknowledging the risks they took to provide outstanding services.
He promised that when the Congress government comes to power in the State, the temporary residences of sanitation workers will be converted into permanent ones. Mayor Jagat Bahadur Singh said MLA Saxena has epitomises public service and assistance. He pledged his firm commitment to support sanitation workers alongside Vinay Saxena. The presentation of a street play, aimed at raising awareness about the harmful effects of plastic carry bags and single use plastic was also applauded during the grand event. In response to appeals by Vinay Saxena and Mayor Singh, those present on the occasion shared a meal with sanitation workers, all sitting together at the same table.
