Uneven road surface between Janjgiri and Kumhari is posing a major threat to motorists. These uneven patches and potholes require immediate attention and repairs, but the concerned authority are yet to pay attention to the issue which has irked the motorists. The patches and bumpy road between Janjgiri to Kumhari is also inviting accidents and the motorists passing through it are risking their lives. Large potholes are also visible on the road, but any step to make the road surface even is yet to be taken. Sources informed that even though several accidents have taken place between Janjgiri and Kumhariu, the road is yet to be repaired and made even so that motorists can pass through it comfortably without any danger. The ongoing construction of flyover at Kumhari has added to the woes of people as the service road here too is not even. From Janjgiri to Kumhari, the potholes, patches and layer of road are visible and they are posing a threat to motorists passing through the area as the ride is not smooth and is in fact dangerous.

 

It should be noted that motorists have to pass through Kumhari for going to Raipur or Bhilai and the uneven road surface for almost three kilometers especially in front of the Power Grid Corporation has made road journey miserable. A daily commuter Manish stated that due to the uneven surface there always remains risk of accidents while the potholes also increase its chances. “The road is bumpy and one cannot smoothly ride the bike in such condition. The authorities are yet to take any action and it appears least bothered about the accidents taking place on the road,” he said. Meanwhile, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Satish Thakur informed that from September 27 night, tarring and broadening of Kumhari Service Road will begin. Initially, the broadening of Raipur to Durg Service Road will be done and for completing the same, time limit of four days have been fixed.

 

All the vehicles will be made to pass through the newlyconstructed over bridge at Kumhari during the work. Later, the tarring work of national highway in Kumhari will be done between October 7 and 14, October 15 to 20 in Dabrapara, October 21 to 30 in Power House and from November 1 to 10, the tarring work of National Highway at Supela will be done. The DSP who recently conducted the inspection of Kumhari Service Road has asked the construction company to use safety equipment, ensure proper lighting facilities and deploy security guards for diverting the traffic.
