Continuing with the special campaign ‘Operation Shikanja’ Crime Branch and Sanjeevani Nagar team seized three cars loaded with 70 crates of liquor amounting to Rs 50 lakhs at the parking area of Ayushi Palm Green Apartment in the intervening night of Friday and Saturday. SHO of Sanjeevani Nagar police station, Apoorva Chourasia informed that under the direction of Superintendent of Police, Tushar Kant Vidyarthi (IPS), police have started a special campaign against illegal trade and transportation of liquor under the supervision of Additional SP (City South), Kamal Mourya and CSP, Gorakhpur, HR Pandey. During the campaign, Crime Branch received information about an unnumbered Scorpio car loaded with illegal stock of liquor near Ayushi Palm Green Apartment.
 
Acting promptly on the information, combine team of Crime Branch and Sanjeevani Nagar police started a search in the identified area. Witnessing the police, Scorpio driver drove away the car from the area but alert cops chased the car and stopped it at some distance. In the search, police seized 12 crates illegal stock of English liquor amounting to Rs 1.11 lakh. Car driver named Devendra alias Deepu Sharma (34), a resident of Belkhera disclosed that he has parked two more cars loaded with liquor stock at the parking area of Ayushi Palm Green Apartment. On his identification, police reached the spot and found a Safari Storm numbered MP-20CG-0088 and Kia Seltos numbered MP-20CK-0088 and seized 35 crates illegal stock of English liquor amounting to Rs 3.73 lakh and two cars of Rs 45 lakhs. Sanjeevani Nagar police have registered a case under Section 34(2) of Excise Act while further investigations are underway to identify the source of receiving illegal stock of liquor.
