NAGPUR’S district badminton champions in Under-11 and U-13 girls singles categories, Anudhya Satpute and Vaishnavi Manglekar, made it to the quarter-finals of the Yonex Sunrise Maharashtra State Mini U-11 and U-13 State Championship being played at Virar, Palghar. In the pre-quarter final, Vaishnavi defeated Sai Joshi of Pune in straight games.
The Nagpur player won the first game 15-08 and then took the second game 15-10 to make quarters. Vaishnavi will play against Khyati Katre of Pune in the last eight battle. In the U-11 girls singles, Anudhya reached quarter-final after she recorded a hart fought 2-0 win over Priya Amburle of Palghar. Anudhya took the first game 15-12 and then was 15-11. Anudhya will fight against Maithili Tarase of Sangli for a place in the semis. Vaishnavi is Standard VI student of Gayatri Convent, Mahal and practices under the guidance of coach Amit Raut at Indoor Hall at Divisional Sports Complex, Mankapur, Koradi Road.
