PRIME Minister Narendra Modi lauded the role of teachers in building the future as he greeted them on Teachers’ Day on Tuesday. On the occasion, he also paid tributes to noted educationist and former President S Radhakrishnan on his birth anniversary, which is commemorated as Teachers’ Day. PM Modi said on X, “Teachers play a key role in building our future and inspiring dreams. On Teachers Day, we salute them for their unwavering dedication and great impact. Tributes to Dr. S. Radhakrishnan on his birth anniversary.” Modi also shared a video of his interaction on Monday with the winners of the National Teachers’ Award. He had urged them to celebrate the culture and diversity of different parts of the country in their schools. In his interaction with the 75 award winners at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, the Prime Minister appreciated the efforts of teachers in nurturing the young minds of the country.
 
Concept of equality part of our Vedas: Rajnath:DEFENCE Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday said the concept of equality is a part of the ancient Indian knowledge system and scriptures and the “rights of women are no less than that of men”. Delivering ‘Dayanand Smriti Samvad’ keynote address at DU’s Hansraj College on Teachers Day, Singh said the Vedas were repository of rich knowledge on mathematics, astronomy, medical science as well as modern concepts of democracy and equality. Cong hails Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan on birth anniversary: THE Congress on Tuesday hailed the contribution of former president Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan on his birth anniversary, saying that he left an indelible mark on education and philosophical thought and his “legacy continues to guide our values”. Party President Mallikarjun Kharge paid homage to the former President, describing him as a philosopher and statesman whose contribution, dedication and wisdom continue to inspire people generation after generation.
 
Kharge said that teachers are true nation-builders. “They are not only our guiding lights but the flag bearers of good values and the conscience keepers of our moral compass. On Teachers Day, we salute all teachers across the country, for they are the ones who will chart our future destiny,” he said. In a post on X, Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said, “Today, we celebrate Teachers’ Day and recall Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the great philosopher, educationist and author.” “Not a political personality by any means, Radhakrishnan had been persuaded by (Jawaharlal) Nehru to be India’s Ambassador to the USSR during 1949-52 when the communist conglomerate still looked upon India suspiciously. Thereafter, he was the first Vice-President of India 1952-62 and President till 1967,” Ramesh said.
