YOUNG Muslim Football Club (YMFC) emerged champions in the Haji Majeed Ahmad ‘Majju Seth’ All India Gold Cup Football Tournament that concluded at Military Ground in Kamptee, on Sunday. After the teams failed to score in regulation time, the final was decided by penalty shoot-out in which local outfit YMFC pipped MEG Bangalore 4-2.
For the winners, Abu Amin, Saurabh Kathole, Subham Dayma and Saqib Anwar found back of the net while for the runners-up team only Immrakkom and Noman could convert their spot kicks. Following players were declared as the best in their respective positions YMFC’s Fuzail Pasha (midfielder), MEG Bangalore’s Prashad (goalkeeper) and Ayush (defender); Rabbani Football Club Kamptee’s Mohammad Rizwan (forward). YMFC’s Saqib Anwar was adjudged Best Player of the Tournament and was awarded gold medal.
Pyare Khan, President Taj Bag Trust, was chief guest of the prize distribution function that was graced by ex-Minister Haji Anees Ahmad, ex-Minister Sulekha Kumbhare, ex-Zilla Parishad President Suresh Bhoyar and ex-Vice-President Nagar Parishad Ahfaz Ahmad. Prassanna Rajabhau Tidke, Haji Hasan Ali, Haji Younus Ahmad, Latif Nagani, Arif Sarmatiya, Israil Ahmed, Mazhar Ali, Mahfooz Akhtar, Mahmood Akhtar, ex-India player Ishrat Kamal, Akhtar Jamal were prominently present on the occasion.
