IN a major crackdown the police busted a major interstate drug cartel, culminating in the arrest of a distributor in Jaipur, Rajasthan. A substantial quantity of sedative drugs, valued at over Rs 1.6 crore, was confiscated from the distribution unit. The breakthrough came with the apprehension of local drug peddlers, enabling the police to trace and dismantle the entire illicit drug supply and distribution racket. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ram Gopal Garg addressing the media at the police control room in Bhilai, revealed that coordination with the Narcotic Control Bureau (NCB) is underway to further investigate the role of the manufacturing unit within the interstate network. SSP Garg provided details about the arrest of two locals, Akanksha Khandelwal and her brother Vaibhav Khandelwal, involved in an online illegal drug supply racket.

The Mohan Nagar police, following an extensive investigation, successfully busted the illicit drug supply network with the apprehension of the distributor, Ankush Paliwal (35), residing in Tirupati Vihar, Bundi district, Rajasthan. During the course of the investigation, it was disclosed that Ankush Paliwal owns Biolab Remedies in Bundi district and was supplying scheduled drugs to illegally established companies in the country, including some in Bangladesh. Acting on the information provided by Paliwal, the police conducted raids in various locations, including Kota, Bundi, and Jaipur, resulting in the seizure of sedative drugs, including tablets and syrup, worth over Rs 1.6 crore.

Akanksha Khandelwal and Vaibhav Khandelwal confessed to operating an illicit drug supply racket online in Chhattisgarh and beyond the state borders. They created fake companies, Vaibhav Pharmaceuticals and Virus Lab, and obtained illicit drugs from Ankush Paliwal. SSP Garg commended the specially constituted police team, led by CSP Durg Police Subdivision Manishankar Chandra, for successfully tracking the major supply link and uncovering the interstate illicit drug supply racket. The team’s dedication during a fiveday operation in Rajasthan was acknowledged, with personal recommendations for awards by SSP Garg
