The two-day seminar on ‘Green Mining Initiatives – Indian Mineral Industry Perspective’ organised by Indian Mine Managers’ Association, Nagpur Chapter concluded recently. The chief guest of valedictory function, I D Narayan, CMD, MECL, Nagpur suggested that green mining initiatives are necessary not only for saving environment but also for saving humanity.
He stressed on increasing efforts for exploration of minerals as still 70 per cent of area in the country is unexplored. He said that in developed countries it is above 60 per cent.
Satish Jha, Director Technical, CMPDIL, who was guest of honour told the gathering that 50 per cent of future energy needs of the country will be met from coal.
Pradip Maheshwari made a novel presentation on regional development and green mining concept. The open forum and valedictory function was conducted by Prof M S Tiwari while the guests were welcomed by R C Sanodia and Satish Gabale proposed the vote of thanks.
