Religious fervour gripped Durg district along with Twin Cities Bhilai-Durg on Monday with special prayers being organised in more than 6,000 temples across the district on the occasion of the consecration ceremony at the newly constructed Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. Temples across the district have been bedecked with flowers, lamps, lightings, flags and posters. On this occasion, the city residents illuminated the temple and their homes by lighting lamps and burned crackers. Public Representatives including MPs, MLAs, Mayors and others extended their wishes to the people on the occasion of the Ram temple consecration ceremony. They offered flowers and performed ‘aarti’ to Lord Rama at Ram Janki Mandir Kasaridh and other temples located in Bhilai-Durg. They also participated in the bhajans, Manas Gaan to mark the occasion of the consecration ceremony.
 
Viswa Hindu Parishad (VHP), Bajrang Dal, Hindu Yuva Manch and other organisations organised religious programmes at various city temples in the district during the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya. During this, live telecast of Shri Ramlala Pran Pratishtha Ramotsav organised in Ayodhya was done through LED screen at various places. People lighted earthen lamps and made rangolis at their houses. Everyone burned crackers to celebrate the consecration ceremony. Bhandara and Mahaprasad were distributed at every hook and nook of twin city.
 
Chief priest of Ram Janki Mandir said that the temple was decorated with flowers and a 12-hour-long special religious ritual started with the consecration of the Ram Lalla idol in the Ayodhya temple. Priests are performing pujas, which will continue till late night, he said. The District Administration has, on the occasion of the consecration ceremony, already declared a holiday for schools, while its offices, other establishments and public sector banks remained closed for half a day on Monday. In a bid to maintain peace and harmony across the district, security has been beefed up.
