IN a landmark achievement, Kanker Police of the State has secured a coveted place in the Golden Book of World Records for executing the ‘Largest Campaign of Admonishing for Traffic Rules.’ The initiative, aptly named “Say Sorry to Your Family,” has not only broken records but has also set a new standard in promoting road safety. Under the leadership of Kanker Superintendent of Police Divyang Patel, the events marking the campaign were held from January 15 to January 26, this year, as part of the 34th National Road Safety Month.

 

The innovative strategy employed by Kanker Police involved accessing images from drivers/riders’ phones and sharing them, along with clear traffic signs, to five family members via WhatsApp whenever a violation was witnessed. The impact of this novel approach has been nothing short of phenomenal, with a total of 1,60,745 people receiving crucial awareness on traffic rules. Remarkably, 32,149 of these reside within the district itself, emphasizing the campaign’s local impact.

 

Alok Kumar, the Record Management Judge of records at the Golden Book of World Records, bestowed a special acknowledgment upon Kanker SP Divyang Patel and his team for their dedicated efforts. This recognition not only commends their commitment to road safety but also highlights Kanker’s global influence through its intelligent and creative initiatives. Undoubtedly, the success of the “Say Sorry to Your Family” campaign has positioned Kanker Police on the international stage, raising the prospect of this innovative initiative being formally recognized as a world record. The Golden Book of World Records acknowledges the significance of Kanker Police’s contribution to fostering a safer and more responsible approach to traffic regulations.
