A review meeting of the District-level Road Safety Committee was organised in the Collectorate Hall under the chairmanship of Collector Richa Prakash Chaudhary in the presence of Senior Superintendent of Police Ram Gopal Garg, where a decision was made that it will be mandatory for two-wheelers to wear helmets on major avenues including Central Avenue Road Bhilai and National Highway Durg-Raipur from February 1. In the meeting. Collector thoroughly reviewed the road, police station and road wise reports of accidents on the National Highway and other roads and directed to complete the corrective work on the identified black spots as soon as possible. Many important decisions were also taken by discussing various suggestions to further strengthen the traffic safety on the roads of the district.
 
Collector Chaudhary took information about the black spots identified by the Ministry of Road Transport and National Highways for 2024. On which DSP Traffic Satish Thakur said that on the basis of fatal road accidents that occurred in the year 2021, 22 and 23, as per the standards defined for black spots by the Ministry of Road Transport and National Highways, 8 accidental road sections have been marked as black spots for the year 2024. He also informed that for corrective work on all the above mentioned roads, physical verification of the roads and review of the causes of accidents has been done.
 
Collector Richa Prakash gave instructions to the officials of the National Highways and Public Works Department to identify the possible accident areas of the district and make comprehensive arrangements for road safety, so that accidents can be avoided. In the meeting, Superintendent of Police Ram Gopal Garg mentioned about construction of divider in various areas. ADM Arvind Ekka, Commissioner BMC Devesh Dhruv, SDM Patan Deepak Nikunj, SDM Durg Mukesh Raote, DSP Traffic Satish Thakur, RTO Shailabh Sahu and other department officials were present.
