City under grip of cold wave

The entire region is under grip of cold waves due to the influence of a western disturbance. The day began with dense fog and the sky remained cloudy throughout, accompanied by light drizzles. Since Thursday, change in the weather conditions has been observed in the city and surrounding areas. On Friday morning, the fog was so thick that the weather department recorded visibility of only 200 meters. Although it improved as the day progressed, urban areas experienced fog until noon. The visibility in the nearby rural areas remained at 1000 meters till afternoon.
 
The air has also become very humid, with humidity of 94 percent in the morning. The night temperatures have risen due to the presence of dark, heavy clouds in the sky. According to the local weather department, the minimum temperature in the city on Friday morning was recorded at 15.6 degrees Celsius, which was 5 degrees higher than the normal range. Spokesman of the department informed that the impact of the western disturbance may persist for two more days.
 
Weather conditions are expected to improve from January 7, although there might be a period of intense cold following the improvement. Till then, there are chances of cloudy skies and rainfall. As per the information received from the department, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain or drizzles in some parts of Mahakoshal region tonight. Maximum temperature on Thursday was recorded at 23.6 degrees Celsius, which lowered to 21.5 degree on Friday. The coolness during the day time was due to presence of dense clouds in the sky. According to weather department, the daytime temperatures may remain 4 degrees below normal.
