Action is vindictive, says expelled State Gen Secy

The Disciplinary Committee (DC) of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has expelled Narendra Jichkar, State General Secretary from the Party’s primary membership for six years for his alleged misbehaviour during the City Committee meeting. In a letter sent to Jichkar, the committee headed by Prithviraj Chavan with Ulhas Pawar and Dr Bhalchandra Mungekar as members, said, “The Committee discussed the reply sent by you. The reply given by you about your indisciplinary action did not satisfy the Committee.

The rules and guidelines of Indian National Congress apply in this case. Taking cognisance of your anti-party activity and misbehaviour, the Disciplinary Committee of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee has decided to expel you from the party’s primary membership for six years.” Calling the action vindictive and full of negativism, Narendra Jichkar said, “In front of all the office-bearers the attack was planned by miscreants. I had only demanded to implement the resolution passed by national executive of Congress in the Udaipur convention. In last 10 years, in Nagpur the organisation has become weak. I only raised by voice with a thought of strengthening the party. Raising voice for the betterment of party was termed as an offence and action was taken in a vindictive manner. I shall remain present in Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra starting by Rahul Gandhi on January 14.

I will be taking out Jan Ashirwad yatra, visit homes to seek blessings. I shall put my side before the national leadership.” On October 12, 2023, MPCC President Nana Patole had convened a meeting of Congress committees of Nagpur Division at Mahakalkar Hall. During Nagpur city Congress committee meeting violent scuffles broke out between rival groups of MLA Vikas Thakre and Narendra Jichkar. In the open eyes of Patole, senior leaders ex-Union Minister Vilas Muttemwar and ex-State Minister Satish Chaturvedi, Anees Ahmed, city leaders torn each others’ clothes. The drama had gone viral on social media.
