Under the National Tuberculosis Eradication Programme, Durg district has created a milestone by notifying over 18,000 TB patients in the last year of 2023. This is the highest number of notifications made under the programme in State so far within a year. Dr J P Meshram, Chief Medical and Health Officer of Durg district has given credit for this achievement to the hard work of the district as well as block level officials and health workers. Apart from them, village heads and community at rural level have also participated in it and have organised many programmes to aware people about initial symptoms of this Tuberculosis (TB).

In 2022, only 13400 TB patients were notified and in 2021 as well as 2020, owing to coronavirus pandemic, only 4,500 and 3,100 patients were notified by health department respectively. The chief medical and health officer of district informed that in achieving this achievement, integrated Nikshay Day organised on the 15th of every month at health centers, identification of TB patients during the campaign and running an active case-finding campaign from time to time also played a big role.

TB screening and sample collection at health centers have also increased the notification of patients. The program has also been strengthened by the commencement of TB testing using TrueNat machines available at civil hospitals and some of community health centres. Many social organisations and communities have also come up to support in this work of health department and encouraged people to come forward and undergo all tests of TB identification
