At the Kalamna wholesale market, potatoes are being quoted at Rs 30 per kg, while onions are being quoted at Rs 40 per kg, as compared to Rs 60 per kg 15 days ago
AS Asigh ofrelief to the housewives, the potato and onion
prices have cooled down from
their earlier highs with the
arrival of the new crop in the
market.Thepotato andonions
prices have dropped by Rs 20
per kg in the wholesale market, as compared to prices a
fortnight ago.

Association, Kalamna wholesale market while speaking to
TheHitavada, saidinretail, the
potatopriceshave fallen tolevel of Rs 40 to Rs 50 per kg, while
onions are being sold for Rs 50
to Rs 60 per kg.A fortnight ago,
potatoes were sold at Rs 70 to
Rs 80 per kg and onions were
quoted at Rs 60 to Rs 70 per kg,
depending on the locality and
quality.
At the Kalamna wholesale
market, potatoes are being
quoted at Rs 30 per kg, as compared to a fortnight ago at Rs
50 per kg, a reduction of Rs 20
per kg.
Similarly, the onions
are being quoted at Rs 40 per
kg, as compared to 15 days ago
at Rs 60 per kg, he pointed out.
Currently,potatoes arecoming from Agra in large quantities.Whereas, onions are coming from Solapur in
Maharashtra and Hyderabad
in Andhra Pradesh.
The new produce has just
started to arrive in the market
and the prices will gradually
decrease as supplies rise within thenext fewmonths.Thenewproduce of potatoes fromChhidwara are expected to hit
the markets from November.
The new supplies are expected to lower the prices from the
current levels. Also, the newcrop of onions will be coming
from October which will furtherlower the prices and bring
relief to thehousewives thatare
battling inflation.
